How it works
Reading
A PaddleOCR model finds the text in the shared video, running in a worker through eSearch OCR and ONNX Runtime on WebAssembly. It runs entirely on your machine: the models load once from this site, and no pixel is ever sent anywhere.
Translating
Chrome's built-in Translator API translates the recognized text. Chrome documents it as client-side, using models downloaded for your chosen languages and stored on your device. Once those models are ready, you can keep translating without an internet connection.
Drawing
traduct.org measures how far the page scrolled and moves the text it already read, instead of recognizing it again. That is what makes scrolling readable rather than a flicker of re-translations.
